"Landscape of the City: Brooklyn Bridge Park"

Join us for the 2010 BHA Annual Meeting. The featured speaker is Michael Van Valkenburgh, principal of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, who will speak not only on his firm's work on Brooklyn Bridge Park, but on the broad topic of the creative process in park and landscape design, featuring projects from around the world.

BHA President Tom van den Bout will review the association's accomplishments and challenges of the year past, and share the range of initiatives the BHA is currently engaged in as it celebrates a century of service and moves forward with new energy.

As always, a highlight of the evening will be the presentation of awards to those who have made a difference in the Heights, architecturally and through community service. This year's Architectural Excellence Awards recognize restoration-minded renovations at 14 Grace Court Alley, 36 Grace Court and 68 Hicks Street. The Award for Extraordinary Community Service will go to Jonathan Landsman, the "Promenade Gardener", who has led a team of volunteers as part of a public-private partnership (between the Parks Department and the BHA) to bring the gardens back from their state of neglect to a flourishing future. The Heights volunteers who have joined Jonathan to make a difference are Rivolye Alex, Molly Buccella, Herbert J. Cohen, Mary Ellson, Bruce Gregory, Lucile Gruber, Grace Gutman, Deborah Hallen, Maureen Healy, Pearl Hochstadt, Holly Kozak, William McBride, Serhiy Mshanetskiy, Diana Prizeman, Alan & Karen Neuberg, Julia Ryan, Steven Sachs, Karen Schlesinger, and Koren Volk. Join us to thank them!
