On Monday, February 28 at 7:30 PM the BHA will hold its Annual Meeting at the Plymouth of the Pilgrims, located on Orange Street between Hicks and Henry Streets.
Our keynote speaker will be Diane Ravitch, historian of education, Research Professor of Education at NYU, and author of the best selling book, The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education (New York: Basic Books 2010). The topic could not be more timely and we expect Ms. Ravitch to be a fascinating speaker. For a preview of Ravitch's thoughts on President Obama's education policy, click here to read her comments in the recent NYTimes article, Grading the Education President; and here to read Ravitch's review of David Guggenheim's documentary film, Waiting for 'Superman'.
Tom Stewart (whose face and voice are well known to Channel 13 viewers) will present the BHA's Awards for Community Service to the Brooklyn Heights Blog and Riverside Tenants Association.
BHA President Jane McGroarty will preside, giving the BHA's annual report on the organization's activities. All are welcome. Come to hear our speaker, and talk to your neighbors at the reception follwing the meeting.
